Cavs: Lauri Markkanen should help Evan Mobley develop

Evan Mobley can benefit greatly from Lauri Markkanen being in Cleveland. It is still unclear how the starting lineup and bench roles will shape out for this upcoming season. Regardless of that outcome, Lauri has played four years of significant NBA basketball, whereas Evan Mobley has only played in the Summer League of the NBA.

Markkanen can be a valuable mentor for Mobley based on his experience in the league.  Evan Mobley will need to develop and grow into his role as a potential star. With Markkanen there to provide him with insight to succeed, the Cavs rookie is in a good position for this upcoming season.

Even if Mobley and Markkanen do not play meaningful minutes together, the presence of both players on the team can still benefit one another.  The added depth of big men in the rotation for Cleveland can make for some interesting lineups.  If the Cavaliers decide the rookie is ready for the starting job, then Lauri Markkanen would make a nice bench player to ease the stress off of Mobley and bring in some depth in the front court.  If the roles are reversed, and we see Mobley off the bench behind Markkanen starting, Cleveland could still capitalize on the depth.
