#2: To play in at least 70 games for the Cavs
The second goal I have for Windler is in regards to the proverbial elephant in the room, and that’s for him to suit up in at least 70 games for Cleveland.
As we’ve harped on, and Cavs fans have emphasized, Windler has the potential to be a sharpshooter for a Wine and Gold team that, injuries to Kevin Love and others at various points aside, was last in the NBA in three-point shooting in 2020-21. Cleveland was 29th in three-point makes per contest and 28th in three-point attempts per game, too.
Darius Garland and Collin Sexton looking to take more, of which is reportedly being stressed, would make a difference too, for what it’s worth. Windler could aid those two, Ricky Rubio and the Cavaliers in that department if he can establish a rhythm early on next season, though.
But to drive the point home, Dylan needs to remain healthy. As was touched on, he’s reportedly on track with his recovery, on a positive note, and if he can be full speed ahead in training camp and get some real reps in preseason, that should help him out.
It’d be good to see Windler, for his and the Cavaliers’ sake, for him to appear in at least 70 games next season, with the year set to be a normal 82-game and mostly non-COVID-19-affected season (knock on wood).
Maybe that’s wishful thinking; him doing so could be a real boost for the Cavs, though, in my opinion.
