Cavs winning

If Mobley can contribute, like most hope and predict based on his talents, and he can help turn this sputtering franchise around like the aforementioned James, then that rookie award is certainly in play. Image is everything, and with Mobley being the infusion into the team that helps start up the engine again down that road to the playoffs would look really good to the rest of the world.

We sportswriters and broadcasters across the globe that follow the NBA are the ones voting on the selection of Rookie of the Year. If the Cavs begin the season strong and Mobley can show some of those consistencies, especially on the defensive end of the floor, the world will take note. Mobley has again already emphasized himself being motivated to not only be the Rookie of the Year, but an NBA All-Star as well this season, as the next NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to be in Cleveland in February of 2022.

The Cavs were a lousy 22-50 a year ago. When former Cavs great Kyrie Irving won the award in 2012 the Cavs weren’t much better at 21-45, so it is possible to win the award despite the team not winning, but it’s less common.

Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green and Jalen Suggs will likely all score more than Mobley, but he will dominate in the defensive stats like rebounding and blocked shots.

Earning that award would be a nice icing on the cake for Mobley but more important than that rookie award is that the Cavs have likely added an important piece to the puzzle and the franchise is going back in the right direction.
