What a summer it has been on the banks of Lake Erie. The Cleveland baseball team was renamed the Guardians. On top of that, the Cleveland Browns are Super Bowl contenders this year after a great season last year. As for Cleveland’s other top sports team, well they’ve had quite the summer as well. The Cleveland Cavaliers lucked out in the NBA Draft Lottery, winding up with the third pick.

A week ago, that pick was made, and it was Evan Mobley out of USC. Also, the Cavs signed Jarrett Allen to a five-year extension. With Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen and Isaac Okoro going forward, it seems the front office has found their core group that they will continue to build off of.

Collin Sexton had his best season for the Wine and Gold just this past year. Darius Garland improved on his game, and he now seems like he will be the point guard going forward. In the frontcourt, Mobley and Allen are solid rim-protectors, and run the floor. With Mobley, he will be a big cog in the Cavs offense this coming season.

However, the player the Cavs need to see the most improvement from might be Isaac Okoro. During his rookie year he averaged just under ten points per game, which is just fine for a rookie.

Okoro needs to improve his outside shooting, as well as his court vision going into Year 2. Finally, he really needs to run the floor the way he did in flashes this past season.

If Okoro can improve on his three-point shooting and court vision, as well as his floor running, that will suit well in Year 2, and hopefully aid in him taking a leap.

Here, we’ll expound on what Okoro needs to do to take that second-year leap though, to that point; three areas come to mind.

We’ll examine the perimeter shooting element first.
