Complete 2021 NBA Free Agency preview: Cleveland’s free agents

Jarrett Allen is the big fish of the Cavs’ free agent class this season, but there are a few other players hitting the market as well. Matthew Dellavedova is one of them, and he has already signed a contract to play in Australia’s NBL next season.

Another key name is center Isaiah Hartenstein, who declined his player option in order to become a free agent. He is a solid backup center who still has upside to grow from there at just 23 years old. His per-36 minute averages last season were 15.2 points, 11.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 2.5 blocks.

The team has Non-Bird Rights on him, so they can re-sign him for up to 120 percent of what he made last season ($1.62 million), which might be about as much as he could get anywhere else. It likely makes sense to bring him back at that number, but dipping into an exception to go much higher than that would be difficult, especially if they pay through the nose for Allen.

Jeremiah Martin and Brodric Thomas were the team’s two-way contracts from last season. It’s possible that the Cavs bring back one or both of them, but neither has shown much thus far and they could easily pivot elsewhere to fill those slots.
