NBA Draft 2021: Start time, live stream, TV info
In just a few hours the Cleveland Cavaliers and 29 other teams will seek to improve their franchise’s fortune in the 2021 NBA Draft. 60 players will go off the board, in addition to however many undrafted free agent deals are announced in the hours following the draft. Some number of veteran players will likely also be on the move.
This year’s draft is happening about a month behind schedule, as historically the NBA holds its draft in late June. The Covid-19 pandemic paused the 2019-20 NBA season and pushed back the start of this past season to Christmas week. While the NBA crammed as many games as they could into the time period, the season ended about a month late.
Therefore we draft in late July, not late June. Free agency will kick off next week, so the offseason turnover for teams, including the Cavaliers, will be fast-paced. The Cavaliers are armed with the No. 3 overall pick tonight, and are likely to take USC big man Evan Mobley, although there are rumors they are considering trades.

The top picks of the draft are coming together, with ESPN reporting that the top three teams all know who they want to choose:
With Cade Cunningham a solid No. 1 to Detroit now, Houston and Cleveland continue to trend toward Jalen Green and Evan Mobley with the second and third picks, respectively, sources tell ESPN.

If the draft does fall this way, Evan Mobley will be an excellent pick for the Cavaliers. He is a true difference maker on the defensive end, with a wing skillset on offense despite his 6’10” height. He’s a unique big man custom made for the modern NBA.
Currently the Cavaliers only have the No. 3 pick, but they have been active trying to trade back into the draft at some point. If they move Collin Sexton or Larry Nance Jr. for a lottery pick they could be back on the clock by 9:00pm. If not, there are plenty of options available in the second round.
