Cleveland Cavaliers: 2 realistic expectations for FA target Reggie Bullock
By Dan Gilinsky
#2: Bullock can play with a variety of Cavs, and is viable at multiple positions
Secondly, with him being a capable off-ball contributor, either in a starting or bench role seemingly, I’d expect that Bullock could play with a variety of Cavaliers players and he could be viable at the 2 or 3, depending on matchups/lineups.
The 6-foot-7 Bullock could mesh with either Garland/Sexton with him at the 2 or with him at the 3 and both in lineups, or with Isaac Okoro/Dylan Windler at the 2, for example.
Occasionally, I could foresee Bullock appearing at the 3 with Taurean Prince at the 4 here and there, if he’s still around; that could be an intriguing wrinkle in spurts for Cleveland, too.
But in a general sense, with Bullock being a knockdown shooting presence that can make things happen in stretches off movement, and with him being a quality cutter as well to counter his off-the-catch shooting, he could be a solid option with a variety of Cavs.
And defensively, Bullock has good rotational instincts, and he could hold his own against 2s and 3s in spurts/stretches for the Wine and Gold, either as a starter or a key bench contributor.
His veteran presence on that end could aid Cleveland’s youngsters, such as Garland, Sexton and Okoro, to go with others as well, and him being to defend multiple positions at a respectable level would be a plus for the Cavaliers.
Anyhow, while we’d have to see if Bullock would consider signing with the Cavs, perhaps he would for an offer of $6 million or so for multiple years. Being a leadership presence for Cleveland’s young guys, and with them having the likes of potentially Mobley in the mix, perhaps Reggie would be interested.
And we’ll keep an eye out for him in 2021 NBA Free Agency for the Cavs, and other wing shooters/potential backup point guards, such as T.J. McConnell, Alex Caruso and others.
