Cavs bold prediction #2: Collin Sexton will earn his first All-Star appearance

Collin Sexton‘s name seems to float around constantly as a potential trade candidate ahead of this year’s NBA Draft. His future could very well be shaped by the Cavs’ selection, but I’d like to believe that until this team receives a good enough return or at the very least one that benefits it more than what Sexton has to offer, he stays put.

My prediction is that Sexton will still be with the Cleveland-based squad when the smoke clears and will use all of the chatter as motivation to put forth his best season yet. It is hard to imagine anything less for a player who has shown nothing but improvement during each of his first three seasons in the league.

The Alabama product has managed to add nearly four points to his scoring average each year but the portion of his game most scrutinized has been his playmaking capabilities. He has steadily progressed, at least from a statistical standpoint, as he increased his assists per game from 3.0 in each of the past two seasons, up to 4.4 this season.

Expect Sexton to make it a point (get it?) to get his teammates involved early and often in an effort to prove his doubters wrong.

Sexton’s stat-line prediction for the Cavs: 27.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.3 rebounds, on 49.4% FG and 39.6% 3PT
