It’s tough to know what the Cavs would be getting offensively from Kuminga in the first 1-2 years

Offensively, again, Kuminga is a very capable driver that can finish when he’s able to get downhill, and I think there’s some untapped mid-post abilities from him.

But he doesn’t have near the touch of say, Mobley, nor close to the offensive polish of Green. And in Mobley’s case, he is a good roller/lob threat, has post-up polish and though the splits didn’t show it, his guard-like handle and passing vision would be seen early on with Cleveland, too.

Anyhow, with the shooting question marks, lack of playmaking feel, and possibility of Sexton being traded, I’d rather Cleveland veer away from Kuminga at that #3 spot. It’s tough to foresee what kind of game-to-game production one would be getting from him for the two or so years, and at least in a key bench role, the Cavs could run some offense through Mobley, and Green is a polished scorer.

If it were later, I could see it, and though it’s tough to know if the New Orleans Pelicans, a rumored Sexton trade suitor, would consider it, I could be talked into Kuminga at #10 to go with salary matching in a potential deal if he fell. Albeit that’d be as a second first-round pick, clearly.

But as we’ve alluded to, the still-18-year-old Kuminga is still seems, per Fedor’s report, is not that highly likely to be strongly considered at #3 for general manager Koby Altman and the Cavs.

And even the thought of that in a non-trade down, which doesn’t appear that much in the cards? Come on. That’s not to mention team defensive feel concerns and questions seemingly about Kuminga’s motor.

Kuminga this high for Cleveland wouldn’t be the smartest move, at least in my opinion.
