The #4 way Suggs would help the Cavs: He’s a winner

Yes, I know a lot of people look at “winning” as a cliche, but with Suggs it’s honestly just the truth. He won a state championship in basketball his freshman and sophomore seasons. When he got to college, he continued to win. While the Zags fell one win short of immortality, they still won 31 games, and Suggs had a lot to do with that.

The current Cavs backcourt of Darius Garland and Collin Sexton won a combined 22 games while in college. Garland only played in five games for Vanderbilt before an injury ended his season. Under then-head coach Avery Johnson, Sexton’s Tide went 18-16.

Suggs stepped into a starting role on a veteran team, and immediately became a leader. It is a cliche, I get that, but I’d rather have the guy that has proven he knows how to win. Suggs has done that.

Plain and simple, Suggs is a top-four prospect in the 2021 NBA Draft. He’s extremely versatile on offense and defense, and he knows how to win. There hasn’t been much winning going on at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse lately, but I think Suggs could be a major factor in changing that. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that Suggs clearly has no fear on the court.

What other teenager do you know who would have the confidence to take, and nail, one of the biggest shots in college basketball history?

For the reasons stated, if the Cavaliers ended up drafting Suggs, seemingly #3 overall, they’d be getting a franchise changer.
