Should the Cavs attempt to trade for Ben Simmons?

So what’s my take? Should Cleveland swing for the fences and make a run at the LSU product? Absolutely not!

Acquiring Simmons would be fine in the short term but the Cavs are building something here, as I alluded to earlier. The current core and whoever the team selects with the third pick (Evan Mobley perhaps, of whom KJG’s Robbie DiPaola recently hit on) could end up vying for a spot in next year’s playoffs.

Sexton is fresh off of a season in which he managed to increase his scoring average to 24.3 points per outing and looked more comfortable as a primary facilitator as well, dishing out 4.4 assists per game. He’s close to reaching All-Star status and although he’s do to receive a new deal, paying him at or near max money would still be a better investment than going after Simmons in my opinion.

The Cavs need to ask themselves one question. Is obtaining Simmons worth surrendering the up-and-comers they have along with a chance at drafting a future star?

Personally I think it would be a lateral move at best and as a fan of the Wine and Gold, I believe it’s time to stay the course. As a wise man once said, “Trust the process.”
