#2: Mobley is a consistent interior scoring presence for the Cavs

Another realistic expectation for Mobley next season would be that he would be a consistent threat to score from the paint, something the Cavaliers have often lacked, especially when Kevin Love is not in the lineup.

Yes, Love would be the player to start day one next season, barring any unforeseen trade this summer. But let’s be honest, Love is not seemingly in this team’s long-term plans…at least he should not be. For all the good Love has brought to the Cavaliers organization during his time here, it seems it’s in the best interest of both parties to eventually move on.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand. Mobley seems to have several post moves in his arsenal already and showed the ability at times to catch and shoot from in and around the paint. Sexton and Garland are both talented scoring guards, but to have a player like Mobley down low who can score the ball in a variety of ways would be valuable.

Mobley’s scoring ability down low would likely draw defenders in, and that is when Mobley can display his ability as a passer, which is great for a player of his size. Having two quality scoring guards on the outside (provided Sexton sticks around) would potentially give teams fits if Sexton and Garland can consistently hit three-pointers.

In addition to being a low post scoring threat, Mobley would help out in the transition game. Sexton is quick with the ball in his hands on the break and has shown improved vision at times. What better way to improve your fastbreak production by having an athletic 7-footer running the floor as an option.

Overall the Cavaliers will have to wait and see who Houston selects with the No. 2 overall pick, but if Mobley is there with the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, it would be tough to pass up a big man with so many promising traits on both sides of the ball.
