What Martin could provide in spurts for the Cavs offensively

Martin is not a guy that has the vision of Dellavedova, whose had 9.3 assists per-36 minutes in 13 appearances this season, nor Garland. The Memphis product could provide some interior scoring pop in spurts for the Cavaliers, though.

Martin, while he’s not much of a perimeter shooting presence, with a 28.0 percent three-point hit rate in G League run, does a nice job of utilizing change-of-pace to get into the paint and does finish pretty well near the basket.

He’s really quick, which makes it difficult to keep him out of the lane, and the hesitation game he has, and with him having a nice handle, Martin’s an effective driving threat, which could aid the Cavs in some non-Garland spurts in upcoming games.

He does have some of a floater/push shot game, too, and with his feel for keeping primary defenders off balance, it should lead to some free throws/easy looks for him in some potential burn.

And although Martin doesn’t have Delly-like vision, he could help get some others nice looks in some burn and with his ability to get into the lane, and with him having good body control, he’s a capable kickout/dump off passer. Perhaps in some opportunities, we’d see that play out.

Next up, we’ll touch on the defensive end/why the Cavs’ rotational guard/wing situation makes it logical for him to get burn.
