Cavs standout #2 of second half so far: Dean Wade

While he is far from the roster’s flashiest player, stretch big Dean Wade is making the most of his minutes. Wade’s minutes have come more out of necessity due to the injuries the Cleveland Cavaliers frontcourt has dealt with throughout this season, such as in relation to Kevin Love and Larry Nance Jr., to go with Jarrett Allen, to some extent.

Wade has flashed potential as a big man with range that provides some help on the defensive side of the ball to his credit. In a recent loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, Wade connected on 5-of-8 shots from beyond the arc and totaled a career-high 21 points while grabbing six rebounds and collecting three steals, too.

With Kevin Love and Larry Nance Jr. back healthier in the fold, Wade’s minutes may lessen. But throughout the second half of the season, Wade has shown to be a reliable contributor, as he is averaging 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds while hitting 34.8 percent of his three-point attempts.

Although we’ll have to see as far as a potential minutes reduction for Wade down the stretch here, he has proven himself to be a viable piece in a variety of lineups, and that’s been very encouraging.

Moving along, the third Cavs post-All-Star standout so far has been Collin Sexton.
