Jalen Green is one of the top prospects going into the 2021 NBA Draft. It is likely that the Cleveland Cavaliers will be having another top pick in the draft, and in turn, could be the team that calls Green’s name on draft night.

Jalen Green was a five-star recruit coming out of high school and was a consensus top three recruit in his 2020 class. He would wind up foregoing the college experience and instead became one of the first big names to go straight into the G-League from high school.

Green is a 6-foot-6 guard/wing who weighs in at 178 pounds, for context, and looks to have sky high potential that’s likely slated to be a top five pick.

Drafting another guard after spending two of their last three lottery picks on guards would cause some Cavalier fans to scratch their heads, however, when there is a chance of getting a player of Green’s caliber, you can not pass up the opportunity to add him to the roster. Granted, Green looks to be a guard/wing hybrid type, but he is seemingly naturally a 2.

Green is listed as a shooting guard which likely would lead the team to eventually move Darius Garland to a sixth man role, or perhaps look to trade him down the road. In the long run, a lineup change like this may be much better for the Cleveland Cavaliers as a whole, though.

That’s provided Cleveland could find ways to manufacture enough playmaking factoring in Collin Sexton, Larry Nance Jr., and if Green can take further strides in that way. Nonetheless, Green is so immensely talented, to reiterate, and he’d be tough to pass up.

Green has already been compared to some of the best to ever play the game, and with his tremendous upside, it would be very hard for anyone that follows the Cavaliers not to be excited if they are able to add him to the roster.

There are three main ways that Green would be able to make an impact for the Cavs.

We’ll get into those now, beginning with his bucket-getting capabilities.
