#3: The Cavs marketing team would win

And lastly, the Cleveland Cavaliers marketing team would also be greatly impacted from winning the Cade Cunningham sweepstakes by way of the 2021 NBA Draft. Winning the Cunningham sweepstakes would add quite a bit of excitement off the court as well.

We saw when the Pelicans won the Zion Williamson sweepstakes, as it caused a jolt in season ticket sales, via Scott Kushner of The Times Picayune/ New Orleans Advocate. I do think if the Cavs add Cade to this team , it would cause an increase in ticket sales, of course we’ll have to see in relation to COVID-19/capacity measures by that point.

The one thing we haven’t seen since LeBron James left the Cavs, though, is that we haven’t seen the Cavs play on national TV much. Sure the Cavs have played once a year on NBA TV, but we haven’t seen them on ABC, ESPN or TNT much whatsoever. I’d think if they got Cunningham, they’d make an appearance on one of those networks here and there.

Getting Cade would be a big win from the basketball business side as it would add national exposure the Cavs haven’t seen in a few years. You would also see it in jersey sales, as Cunningham would likely be the top seller in NBA rookie jerseys sold.

Cade would obviously make his biggest impact on the court in several different ways, because of the talent he is and the type of leader he is seemingly, but he would also help the Cavaliers off the court from a basketball business/draw perspective as well.

Moreover, this is an incredibly strong draft, particularly in the top 5, with the likes of Evan Mobley, Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga in the mix, too, but Cade is the clear top prospect.

And the Cavs getting the first pick in the upcoming draft would be a big, big moment not only for this current rebuild, but in franchise history. Again, don’t be too concerned about the current ankle injury for Cade.
