Cavs draft: 3 ways a potential Cade Cunningham selection would impact CLE

#2: The Cavs would become an intriguing spot for free agents
Much like the Atlanta Hawks were last offseason, when they signed Danilo Gallinari via sign-and-trade and ultimately via restricted free agency, Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Cavs would become a very intriguing spot for free agents.
You can argue the Hawks organization pushed for the playoffs a little too fast, but they were an interesting choice because of mainly Trae Young. The Cavaliers you can argue more so, because Cunningham is a better talent than Trae long-term, even as talented as he is.
That was very similar to when Kyrie Irving reportedly had Gordon Hayward committed to the Cavs before LeBron came back, based on what he said during his introductory presser with previously the Boston Celtics, via NBC Sports Boston. The difference is Cade is a rookie, but even as a rookie he can have that kind of draw, or more realistically, could in the near future.
I don’t think being a player in free agency would be trying to push for something that isn’t there. I think if you add Cade to the Cavs being a playoff team and a top seven team in the Eastern Conference isn’t something that’s completely far-fetched. Albeit the following offseason could seemingly be when this could have more of an impact.
But anyhow, it’s reasonable for Sexton to take another step, Garland continuing to make strides, Okoro adding more to his offensive game, Allen being locked up, along with Kevin Love (perhaps if he’s not dealt) and Larry Nance Jr., I think the playoffs is certainly realistic. We’d have to see involving the cap outlook then, though.
The Cavs won’t ever lure a superstar-level free agent, but adding what Gordon Hayward was looking like in 2014 as a guage for a level of a free agent is reasonable, if they can things work out financially.
