3 potential lineups Cavs could run with 2021 draft prospect Jonathan Kuminga

The NBA G League has started their season in their bubble and the Ignite have been the team to watch. Filled with a nice assortment of young players and veterans, the team is currently 3-0 with wins over the Santa Cruz Warriors, Oklahoma City Blue, and the Raptors 905.

For the Ignite, the players to watch have been the young ones with Jonathan Kuminga shining the brightest so far. Kuminga is leading the team in scoring with 22 points per contest so far while also pitching in seven rebounds and three assists per game. Kuminga has shown great ability to get to his spots on the floor, working at the three-point line, in the mid-range, and in the paint.

Another big part of the offense that Kuminga has shown is his knack to get to the free-throw line, leading the G League in free throws attempted per game with 7.3. The craziest part of all of this is that Kuminga is performing this well against former/current NBA players at the young age of 18 years old. His potential is through the roof and the future top-5 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft is primed to become an All-NBA level player.

To start the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers were looking like a team primed to make a playoff push but a recent rough stretch of games now sees them with the fourth-best odds at the number one overall pick currently.

With trades seemingly likely to happen in the near future, feasibly involving Andre Drummond, for instance, whose been a key subject mentioned in trade rumors, and the schedule continuing to get tougher, it seems as if the Cavaliers will be picking at near the top of the lottery once again. With this becoming more of a reality, if the Cavs can get Kuminga, he looks to be the last piece in their rebuild.

With that said, here, I’ll be looking at three potential lineups the Cavs could run with Kuminga if he is drafted by them.
