3 things the Cleveland Cavaliers must do to make the playoffs
By Zane Harris
The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently going through a slump in which they have lost four of their previous six games. Despite this, they still have a record of 10-11 after a game that came down to the wire against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.
Although the Cavaliers have a losing record, they are still holding on to the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference currently.
That said, the Wine and Gold are coming up on what will arguably be the toughest stretch in their schedule that they will face this season.
In their next eight games, the Cavaliers will be up against the LA Clippers, the Milwaukee Bucks back-to-back, the Phoenix Suns, the Denver Nuggets, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Clippers again, and the Golden State Warriors. The games after that Milwaukee back-to-back at home will be on the road, too.
These will be very tough games that will put the Cavaliers to the test all in a row. It is crucial that the Cavs do not allow a single defeat to bring them down and lose those eight games straight.
Currently, there is a very small margin for error if the Cavaliers want to make the playoffs for the first time without LeBron James on the roster in decades. If they are able to pull that off this season, it would finally begin a new chapter in the franchise’s history and be a light at the end of the tunnel for Cavs fans.
There are a few things that the Cavs can do to stay in playoff contention through this tough stretch and possibly slip into postseason play at the end of the year/navigate through the eventual play-in, seemingly.
We’ll highlight those things the Cavs must do here.
And now, we’ll get right into those, beginning with #3.
