Taking a look at Dylan Windler’s play for the Cavs so far

Dylan Windler came into this season as a 24-year-old rookie due to him missing all of last season due to complications involving a stress reaction in his lower left leg. Then the unfortunate injury streak continued for Windler when he fractured his left hand one game into this season.

All that time away from the floor has hindered Windler’s ability to get into any rhythm.
In just six games back from injury, Windler has shown some flashes of his potential. While it is a tiny sample size, Windler displays the ability to be a floor spreader as he can knock down the outside shot. Just watching his shot, it is a pure stroke, and over time should be able to make teams pay for leaving him open.

There have also been flashes on the defensive side of the ball for Windler, as KJG’s Tyler Shelt alluded to. The play which stands out is against the Los Angeles Lakers when he broke up a pass, took the ball the length of the floor, and threw down a dunk.

The biggest key for Windler is staying healthy. If Dylan can manage to stay in the rotation, he will have a role on this team. If Windler can maintain a healthy status in an ideal world, he could eat into some of Osman’s minutes later on this season and beyond.

Windler’s overall grade for the Cavs thus far: C, but it is an incomplete grade due to him only playing seven games this season.

Now on to someone the Cavaliers recently acquired, and that is Taurean Prince.
