Here, we’ll take a look at the Cleveland Cavaliers player that was their standout performer for the past week of Jan. 4-10.

The Cleveland Cavaliers finished this past week of Jan. 4-10 with a record of 1-3.

This season has been riddled with injuries and they are hurting the Cavs’ momentum they had to start the season, though. And as a result of injuries, Cleveland reportedly added Yogi Ferrell via the hardship exception on Monday, and he was added on a 10-day deal.

Circling back to the previous week, anyway, the Cavs edged out the Memphis Grizzlies in a gritty, tough game on Thursday, while losing to the Orlando Magic twice on Monday and Wednesday and the Milwaukee Bucks once on Saturday.

Granted, Darius Garland (right shoulder sprain) missed the entire past week, along with Monday’s game versus Memphis, and Collin Sexton missed Cleveland’s last three games.

Kevin Love (right calf strain/reaggravation) and Dante Exum (high grade calf strain) will be out of the picture for the time being as well, with Exum potentially missing the rest of the first half. Plus, Kevin Porter Jr. (personal) has still not appeared for the Cavs in-game.

The only actual regular starter who played all the games this past week was Andre Drummond, who happens to be our Player of the Week.

Drummond was the Cavs Player of the Week for Jan. 4-10.

Drummond averaged 19.6 points and 16.8 rebounds per game this past week.

It’s not surprising he is putting up ridiculous numbers in recent outings, though. Many players who would normally be starting or at least in the rotation have missed time lately and it is hurting the Cavaliers.

Drummond is at least keeping our heads above water. Realistically getting at least one win during this past week probably should not have happened, but we were able to get a win and not get completely blown out in the others, and/or not have any very encouraging stretches.

Regardless of his fit offensively, he has been huge for the team’s defensive leaps. Currently, the team leads the league in points allowed per game and in defensive rating.

You may have to read that sentence again, but it makes sense when you also hear their offense coincidentally scores the least points per game.

Drummond has played his part in this offense’s struggles, to an extent, but his rebounds and defense have been impactful.

Some notable players who also had impactful weeks were Larry Nance Jr. and Damyean Dotson. Nance has had to play two positions this season fairly regularly, and actually has a bit at the 2, too, albeit as tough as that may be he has provided some good scoring while starting this week.

He was especially a big factor in the win over the Grizzlies on Thursday. Nance finished with 18 points, four assists, and three rebounds while shooting a perfect four-of-four from three-point range, and he had a historical performance then in terms of efficiency within Cavs history, per Cavs Notes.

From there, Dotson is someone who has also helped the team, primarily the offense, that’s been extremely thin at guard from injuries. Dotson has made plays with the ball in his hands and has created offense for a team in need.

His most notable performance was the 10-point loss to the Bucks where he finished with 21 points and actually had a career-best eight assists in that one.

That being said, still, Drummond is the Cleveland Cavaliers Player of the Week for the past week of Jan.4-10, and it only helps the Cavs having him perform well.
