Andre Drummond should have more of an evaluation period with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

We didn’t see much of Andre Drummond with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, in what was only an eight game sample size.

That was due to him being banged up initially after being acquired near the 2020 trade deadline via deal involving the Detroit Pistons, and then Cleveland’s season being cut short due to novel coronavirus concerns/them not being an Orlando bubble team.

Drummond should be in-line for more of an evaluation period with the Cavs, though. As was expected, Drummond picked up his $28.7 million player option for next season last month, and it would honestly seem as if we should see more of him with Cleveland. That’s for a good chunk of this upcoming season, one would imagine.

Per a report from Sam Amico of Forty Eight Minutes and OutKick, several opposing NBA executives do believe that Drummond will be traded, and could “perhaps” even be prior to the start of 2020-21. Albeit, before next season it’d appear unlikely at this point.

That said, Amico did essentially then hit on in his report, that those executives would seemingly be shocked if Drummond is not traded at some point, at least by the 2021 deadline. That’d appear reasonable, anyhow, also with Drummond it doesn’t appear likely, factoring in prior reports, to sign a contract extension with Cleveland.

Perhaps he could sign a new deal next offseason with Cleveland if he looks to be a good fit with players such as Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Kevin Porter Jr. and/or Kevin Love. We’ll have to see in relation to that, anyway.

Nonetheless, Drummond could possibly work out well with the Cavs, and we do know about how he can make things happen on the interior. So what should we want to see from Drummond in 2020-21?

We’ll dive into two things Cavs fans should be looking for from Drummond this next season here.

We’ll get into the first next.
