Iwundu has catch-and-shoot viability/could help the Cavs build a winning culture

Though Iwundu, who had 5.8 points and 5.0 points per game the past two seasons, wouldn’t be a go-to on-ball presence, him hitting 34.9 percent and 36.7 percent off Orlando’s bench from three-point land last season/the year prior shows the 3-and-D capability is there.

That’s at least to an extent, but what was particularly encouraging was Favale noting how Iwundu, hit from “Jan. 1 onward” 42.9 percent of his triples, as was then per Basketball Reference. But Favale did touch on how the volume wasn’t high, which was evident, and last season, Iwundu averaged 1.6 triple attempts per outing in 18.3 minutes per game.

Although, based on him hitting nearly 37.0 percent of his triples in 2018-19 and how he closed out last season, I’d think Iwundu could have that carry over, and benefit from driving threats such as Sexton and KPJ, and knock down looks off of ball-swings, again.

Iwundu and Windler could develop a nice two-man game predicated off of off-ball cutting as well, considering Windler is such a talented shooter, and is a willing passer, which could mesh with Iwundu in instances on the floor together. Not to mention, Iwundu could benefit from handoff situations with the likes of a number of Cavs players.

Lastly, Iwundu could be a good presence to have in helping out Cleveland’s youngsters, and in coming from an Orlando squad that made the playoffs the past two seasons, he could aid in building a winning culture for the Cavs.

And the smart, tough defensive-minded style Iwundu plays with, while seemingly being such a team-first player could factor into the Cavaliers progressing toward the winning path.

So, would Iwundu be a noteworthy pickup by Cleveland via restricted offer sheet/Orlando not matching during this upcoming free agency period?

No, but adding a multi-positional wing defender whose not quite 26 could help impact winning in the near future for the Cavs, in my opinion. He could mesh well with a variety of players/in a number of different lineups, too.
