#3: Passing/playmaking ability for the Cavs

The first reason as to why the Cavaliers should draft Deni Avdija if he falls to him in the draft is his passing and playmaking ability. Despite the Cavaliers selecting two guards with their lottery picks in the 2018 and 2019 draft, they still ranked near the bottom of the league in assists per game.

Their offense during the 2019-2020 season could be called sloppy at the very least. Along with the team ranking near the bottom of the league in assists, the Cavaliers led the NBA in turnovers per contest.

Despite being 6-foot-9 and traditionally fitting into a small forward position, Avdija is a player that has the build and athleticism to play 2-4, and has the vision to hit a variety of passes in his time on the floor. He has been described as a combo guard and a point forward through the various scouting reports that have been done on him.

Because of this ability, Advdija could be the driving factor behind the Cavaliers raising their assist numbers and overall assist rate in the 2020-2021 season. And with his ability to initiate drive-and-kicks, he could generate his share of open looks for teammates such as Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and Kevin Love, among others, in his time on the floor.
