Cavs: Collin Sexton-Kevin Love duo should be all systems go
By Dan Gilinsky
Collin Sexton and Kevin Love should be comfortable as a Cleveland Cavaliers duo.
Last season, earlier on, Collin Sexton and Kevin Love didn’t have the greatest rapport for the Cleveland Cavaliers. On a number of occasions, and while Sexton was not the only one, and Darius Garland, for instance, was in the same realm, Love was visibly frustrated seemingly from issues with entry feeds.
Sexton and Love early on, though, for one, hadn’t played together a whole lot, as Love was only active in 22 games in Sexton’s rookie season, mostly due to toe surgery. So there were growing pains as far as their chemistry it seemed earlier on in 2019-20 as well.
Albeit as year 2 for Collin wore on, his timing in feeds for Love seemingly got better, as did Garland’s, too. And as Sexton’s second campaign progressed, he made strides as an off-ball player, which hopefully, he’ll build on next season as he gets more acclimated to playing often at the 2 guard spot.
Along the lines of the off-ball game for Collin, I’d imagine we should see him and Love much more comfortable as a duo next season as well, in particular. They will be Cleveland’s top two options offensively, and in 2020-21, they should have a much better chemistry in their minutes together, which should hopefully lead to their share of good looks.
Sexton-Love should be all systems go for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Love should be a key playmaker for Cleveland and pieces such as Sexton, seemingly Darius Garland and Kevin Porter Jr., among others, but I’d expect Sexton, perhaps even more so, to get open looks from Love.
