Cavs potential 2021 stretch big target #3: Isaiah Todd

The final guy on this list is PF Isaiah Todd, who suprised many back in April when he followed the Jalen Green route and went to the G-League, per the original G-League press release. Usman Garuba might have the higher upside, but at this point the 6-foot-9, 215-pound Todd is certainly more skilled.

Todd projects as your prototypical stretch 4 at the NBA level. Todd is a good, not great athlete, but is firmly able to score the ball at all three levels. He has nice moves in the post, he’s extremely effective in the mid-range game and can extend his game out to three-point range.

In the AAU in 2018-19, Isaiah Todd averaged 10.5 points on 45.2 percent shooting (28.6 percent from three), 8.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

Todd defensively is someone that is a solid rebounder, albeit he needs to still get stronger, and should be a legitimate shot blocking presence, but still has plenty to prove as in regards to being a switchable big who can guard guys on the perimeter.

Again Todd needs to get stronger, because he’s skinny and at times he can get pushed around, but that shouldn’t be a problem. Still, there is a ton to like about Isaiah Todd. He offers ability as a shot blocker, has good size at his age (18), rebounds and is a prototypical stretch 4 who can score at all 3 levels.

The percentages didn’t show it necessarily in those said AAU games, but he really just needs reps and experience at the G-League level upcoming, which he should get.

Anyhow, nobody knows for sure where Kevin Love will be by the time the 2021-22 season kicks off it would seem, but perhaps he’ll still be in Cleveland. The Cavs may value Love more than other teams do, as it would appear they do, and his age (32 now), injury history and hefty price tag make a Love trade difficult.

Moreover, it’s hard to say what type of player Love will be if he’s around then, but his veteran experience is still something to keep in mind.

If the Cavs wanted to go younger at that position, Isaiah Todd wouldn’t be a bad option, though.
