This Cavs pick could aid the youngsters’ progression as a whole, too

Landing Okoro, Vassell, Avdija or Okongwu, realistically, could aid the Cavs youngsters as a whole, along with the Garland-Sexton backcourt. Where am I going with that?

To me, with their playing styles, all four of those players can be effective without the ball in their hands a bunch, with them being active/capable off-ball players, and the 6-foot-9 Okongwu is a very effective on and off-ball screener.

To me, Okongwu, in that sense, could open up favorable opportunities for Porter in the pick-and-roll game, and off-ball, Okongwu could aid Windler, to go with Garland, for instance, by setting great off-ball screens leading to open looks off-the-catch.

Okoro, Avdija and Okongwu, who has drawn comparisons to the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo for his passing ability, could provide meaningful secondary playmaking for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and again, for the Cavs’ key youngsters as a whole, that should translate.

Now, this isn’t to suggest that Cleveland’s 2020 NBA Draft selection couldn’t feasibly help players such as Kevin Love, Larry Nance Jr. and/or Andre Drummond (assuming he’s back), among others to some degree.

Albeit to recap, with the prospects mentioned as an example, and I wouldn’t say Dayton big Obi Toppin, really, who could reportedly be a target for Cleveland, but has major defensive question marks, Cleveland’s upcoming draft pick could help the squad get a better guage of their young pieces.

That’s in relation to Garland, Sexton, KPJ and Windler, especially, from my perspective, and to me, aiding the development of those pieces, and developing chemistry for them with this upcoming draft selection, is essential for the Cavs.

And they are in a great spot at #5 to land a player that could definitely do that for them next season and in coming years.

Hopefully, on Nov. 18, we’ll see that seemingly weighed into Cleveland’s pick.
