Having Kevin Love in the Cleveland Cavaliers in-market bubble/team workouts is big.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently conducting in-market bubble workouts, and most notably, the squad began their first of team workouts. That was the first of what will reportedly be six sessions that end out next week, but these are not .

Of course, the key with these is 5-on-5 work being able to be played out, albeit an hour period per session. For Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and the coaches, though, that can only aid them as teachers, for young pieces, such as Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Kevin Porter Jr. and company, in particular.

For the Cavaliers, this time will be invaluable for Bickerstaff and the crew in general from a team-bonding perspective as well. In addition to these team bubble workouts for Bickerstaff/the coaches, however, it’s encouraging to know that Kevin Love is in attendance.

Love is arguably Cleveland’s best player, and without a doubt, he’s their top catch-and-shoot threat, and hit 37.4 percent of his career-high 7.0 three-point attempts per outing in 2019-20.

In any case, given that these team workouts are hardly Cleveland’s formal minicamp and are voluntary, it is great to hear that Love is around the group from a leadership side of things.

I previously touched on that being the case from an overall sense before the workouts were under way, but these comments from Collin Sexton in recent media availability further emphasized that regarding Love, via Forbes‘ Evan Dammarell.

Love being at these team workouts is huge for the Cleveland Cavaliers, as Sexton stressed.

It’s really good for the Cavaliers from a chemistry perspective to have Love at these in-market bubble workouts, with how the group as a whole hasn’t been able to be together, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and/or NBA restrictions.

Guys getting in individual work is one thing, but having Kevin Love with the group, factoring in the leadership element, is truly invaluable and those above comments from Sexton reiterate that. I don’t see them as pointing the finger at say Andre Drummond, either, who is not attending due to a personal matter.

The same goes in regards to Tristan Thompson and Matthew Dellavedova, who are both said to be unrestricted free agents, and also with Cedi Osman, who is still reportedly overseas. And in Osman’s neck of the woods, his native Turkey, they had a spike in COVID-19 cases as of August, per a report then from NPR’s Durrie Bouscaren.

Swinging back, though, as Sexton stressed, it’s huge to have Love with the group and get work in with Collin himself, along with KPJ and others via 5-on-5 work. Love being around to help other youngsters/the group as a whole in optional shooting sessions potentially, too, won’t hurt, considering he’s one of the league’s best shooting bigs.

Lastly, with how Love and the team’s dynamic was last season, which was a tough situation for most of the first half of 2019-20, but of which he apologized for and with how him and Bickerstaff seem to have a terrific relationship, these workouts can re-instill his leadership focus.

Granted, Sexton, who said “he has gained 10-15 lbs of muscle” in this essentially extended offseason, via Fox Sports Ohio Cavs sideline reporter Angel Gray, is seemingly growing into more of a leadership by example role himself, too, though. Cleveland’s 2019-20 leading scorer (20.8 points per game) is only going to be tougher to account for as a scorer with a bigger frame, also.

But again, to reiterate, as Collin stressed, having K-Love with the group in these team in-market bubble workouts is truly huge for the Wine and Gold and honestly, invaluable. Love did say how he “might have to cut out a couple days early,” via Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, albeit his presence will be felt.

Next. How Darius Garland and Kevin Porter Jr. should improve, based on reports. dark

With these workouts voluntary by nature, that’ll speak volumes.
