The Cleveland Cavaliers released their Statement Edition uniforms for next season, which feature a Michael Jordan element to them and a Nike Jordan brand logo.

Every NBA team next season will have a Michael Jordan/Nike Jordan brand logo on their uniforms, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are fittingly no exception.

Jordan of course was a player the Cavaliers had their postseason battles with, but Jordan clearly was on top in that regard.

The six-time NBA champion, five-time MVP, nine-time All-Defensive Team member, 10-time league scoring champ and 14-time All-Star unfortunately, for Cavs fans’ sake, torched Cleveland for years. That includes him eliminating Cleveland four times in the postseason.

In any case, it is clear that the Wine and Gold and the Cavaliers fan base have the utmost respect for Jordan, who is considered by most basketball fans it seems as being the NBA’s GOAT player. I’m a LeBron James guy in that regard, but we’ll table that discussion.

Anyway, circling back to the Jordan uniform element for next season, the Cleveland Cavaliers released their Statement Edition jerseys for their upcoming campaign on Wednesday.

Those are affiliated with the Cavs black statement edition uniform, of which, as a team press release noted  “will forever be associated with the team winning their first NBA championship in 2016.”

Here are the jerseys they released below, followed up by a brief video from the Cavaliers highlighting the jerseys/touching on Jordan’s greatness.

The Cavaliers team statement would hit on the small changes to the Wine and Gold’s Statement Edition uniform shortly before also.

"“The signature Jumpman logo replaces the Nike Swoosh on the right shoulder of the jersey and the left leg of the short and will appear on all NBA team Statement Edition jerseys beginning in the upcoming season.”"

The team statement briefly emphasized how the black Statement uniform, which was first utilized in 2017-18, in addition in relation to the Michael Jordan element, “reflects the champion’s spirit of drive, determination and success.”

From there, the Cavs team statement mentioned the inspiration behind the pinstripes in the Statement Edition uni for next season as well.

"“A distinctive element of the uniform is pinstripes that line the front of the jersey to the middle of the shorts. These faint grey lines are shaped to invoke the imagery of the grain of the sword and represent the team’s toughness on the court-another connection to Jordan’s approach to the game. The alternate uniform makes a bold statement to set the tone for select matchups during the season.”"

It probably will be weird for a large contingent of Cleveland Cavaliers fans that the Nike Jordan brand logo will be on these Statement Edition uniforms in those instances next season, but maybe that can help them win?

Maybe these can give players such as Collin Sexton, Cleveland’s leading scorer in 2019-20 with 20.8 points per game, Kevin Porter Jr., Kevin Love and Larry Nance Jr. a competitive edge. The ultra-hard-working and tough Sexton I believe would fit right in as MJ’s teammate, too, for what it’s worth.

Okay, okay, okay, that’s obviously a joke about the unis leading to W’s, but it should be fun to see the Cavaliers with these jerseys on in action at times next season.
