Taking a look at the Cleveland Cavaliers key wings, realistic draft targets

Moving on to wings, this is a position that the Cavs are desperate to have, and luckily for them, there are multiple options that the Cavs could choose from. Currently, the starting small forward is Cedi Osman and taking into account his contract and his play, he projects to be a solid bench piece for the Cavaliers.

Kevin Porter Jr. and Dylan Windler could also take over as the starting small forward for the team but, Porter Jr. plays much better at the shooting guard position and Windler is returning from an injury, meaning that the Cavaliers would look to ease him in.

In this year’s draft, the number of wings that the Cavs could look to add are endless.

At the top, you have guys in Deni Avdija, Isaac Okoro, and Devin Vassell, all of which would provide the Cavaliers with much-needed defensive versatility with Okoro and Vassell being the defensive-minded wings that I believe the Cavs could target. The Cavs could also reach for players in Saddiq Bey and Patrick Williams if they like them more than the three I mentioned above.

In my opinion, it is up in the air if the Cavs would start any of those players for the first game, though. I believe that Vassell has the best chance to start as his three-point shooting (a 41.7 percent clip in two seasons at Florida State) and defense would do wonders for the Cavaliers’ starting lineup, seeing as he would complement the current small backcourt.

For guys like Okoro and Deni, it would make sense for the Cavaliers to ease them into the league and let them come off the bench as they try to find multiple ways to maximize their potentials.

Thirdly, we’ll examine the Cleveland Cavaliers bigs and look at potential options in the 2020 NBA Draft for the Wine and Gold.
