Every good NBA team has a go-to scorer that they can look towards for a bucket at a moments notice, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are no exception.

All great teams throughout NBA history have had multiple go-to scorers on their roster. So even while the Cleveland Cavaliers might not necessarily be a good NBA team at this point in time, they do have a few players on their roster who have the potential to be solid scorers at some point in their careers.

The first name that comes to mind is Cavs guard Collin Sexton. In his sophomore season, Sexton led the Cavaliers with an average of 20.8 points per game on 47.2 percent shooting from the field.

Kevin Porter Jr. is another player who’s scoring potential has excited some within the organization. Although he only averaged 10.0 points per game during his rookie season, Porter Jr. showed glimpses of isolation scoring ability that was fairly well advanced for being only 20 years of age.

The Cavaliers are also hoping that point guard Darius Garland will be much further along in his scoring ability during his second season. Seeing as he was the Cavs first selection in the 2019 NBA Draft and the fifth selection overall, one would hope that Garland can become at least an average scorer at some point in the coming years.

Sexton, Garland and Porter Jr. are all young players who could potentially become great scoring threats for the Cavaliers somewhere down the line.

But in terms of the Cavaliers potential roster for the next season ahead, who would be considered the best pure scorers on the team right now? The two names that instantly come to mind are the aforementioned Sexton, and Cavs veteran Kevin Love.

Collin Sexton will be the Cavs’ first scoring option in this upcoming season. Sexton is an tenacious guard who can score efficiently from all three levels. He is a great scorer who is quickly becoming a proven scoring threat and someone that defenses will want to pay attention to.

The second scoring option for the Cavaliers will be Kevin Love if he is still on the team for the 2020-21 season. Love is the key veteran on this Cavaliers squad. He can score in both low and high-post situations, and he is one of the team’s best three point shooters as well that hit 37.4 percent of a career-high 7.0 three-point attempts per game in 2019-20.

Love has the respect of this Cavs team not only because he is one of the members of the 2016 Cavaliers championship team, but also because he still puts up strong numbers, too. Love averaged 17.6 points per game last season to go along with 9.8 rebounds.

Sexton and Love will be the first two scoring options for the Cavaliers in this upcoming season. But who will be the third option? After Sexton and Love, who will be the next go-to scorer that players look towards for a bucket.

The Cavaliers have plenty of options for who might develop into their third scoring option.

Here, I’ll highlight three potential players that could be that for the Cleveland Cavaliers next season.

We’ll get started with that now.
