An insurance Cavs guard would be great role for impending FA Matthew Dellavedova

Delly shouldn’t cost the Cleveland Cavaliers much and he wants to stick around
Per the aforementioned Fedor, Dellavedova “shouldn’t cost much.”
That’s another selling point to re-sign Dellavedova, I’d think in the mold of a team-friendly one-year deal, or perhaps a two-year deal with the second year non-guaranteed. Plus, according to Fedor, the “organization loves Dellavedova.”
Also, from Delly’s perspective, Fedor emphasized how Delly back in October said that he loves Cleveland and that his wife “really enjoys it” and to me, that adds to why it’d make sense to re-sign Dellavedova this fall and have him as an insurance piece.
Delly again shouldn’t cost the Cleveland Cavaliers much, based on what Fedor said, and him wanting to stick around in the Land says it all about Delly as a person and a teammate.
Swinging back, though, while Delly shouldn’t be counted on as ideally your second point guard a bunch of the time, a great role for him would be as an insurance piece/third point guard to have for next season.
That’d come in handy in playing a bit still it would seem, based on matchups, but more so, Delly could fill in a bit more if injuries come up, and again, he could help KPJ in his development as being a 1 at times and/or aid other youngsters such as Garland/Sexton more or perhaps Ball/Haliburton.
We’ll have to see if Dellavedova, who turns 30 next month, is eventually re-signed in the upcoming free agency period, but I’d imagine that’s seemingly a good possibility.
He’d be the type of teammate the Cavs would want to have around, could aid in young guards’ hopefully continued development, shouldn’t cost much and again, ideally as an insurance piece/third point guard, would be nice to have.
