Former Cavs guard Jordan Clarkson should be poised for postseason redemption with Jazz

The former Cleveland Cavaliers guard in Clarkson could be on a squad that makes some noise?

With the nature of the bubble and teams being in a centralized site in Orlando due to wanting to manage COVID-19, and with players being out of competition for so long at the NBA level, perhaps we could see some teams such as Utah make some noise?

At this point, it would appear that the Jazz will likely be set to play either the Oklahoma City Thunder or Houston Rockets in the first round. Those would be tough matchups in themselves for the Jazz, but Utah is a formidable squad themselves, don’t get me wrong.

The Jazz have not been quite the same defensive team this season, but they still are 11th in defensive rating and are high-powered with the likes of Bojan Bogdanovic in the fold, who has had 20.2 points per game and hit 41.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Unfortunately the Jazz won’t have Bogdanovic, though, due to prior wrist surgery, but they could still have success.

So while I’m not at all saying I’d expect the Jazz to make it through the West and teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and/or LA Clippers, for instance, maybe something can happen that’s a bit unexpected.

With what’s been an extended layoff and teams still having an unprecedented set of circumstances with the bubble and that dynamic day-to-day, maybe a darkhorse such as Clarkson’s Jazz could make an upset or two, or perhaps a team such as the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference?

Regardless, I’ll be pulling for Clarkson, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, himself to do well, and hopefully bounce back as compared to his first postseason with the Cleveland Cavaliers. I’d imagine his former Cavs teammates such as Kevin Love, Sexton and Larry Nance Jr. (also dating back with the Lakers) will be rooting for Clarkson to make a big impact for Utah, too.

Hopefully the COVID-19 concerns are managed properly, also, and teams/those in the bubble can get out of the season healthy and gradually recover if/when positive tests do happen from here on out if they occur.
