Draymond Green actually previously joked about an ex-Cleveland Cavaliers beat writer being a “spy,” but it turns out Green truly believed it.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors had a rivalry for several consecutive years as the two power house teams met in the NBA Finals year after year from 2015-2018. Tensions were always very high every time they met, whether it was even the regular season or the NBA Finals.

For Cavs fans, I’m not quite sure what was more entertaining; the actual game or seeing Draymond Green air ball a three-point shot or make a mistake on the floor.

Don’t get me wrong, Green can hoop and him averaging 6.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game for his career thus far shows he can affect games in so many ways despite not being a key scorer.

That said, from the Cavaliers’ perspective, if there was anyone on that Warriors roster that fans disliked the most, it was Green.

From always trying to get into LeBron James‘ head every single time they played, chirping with guys on the Cavs roster, and overall just bringing a lot of noise with him wherever he went, he was a headache in many different ways.

Recently, an ex-Cavs reporter on a podcast appearance said something that will throw Cavaliers fans for a loop, too, and probably put more gas on the fire involving their dislike for Green.

This was so Draymond, and played right into the Cleveland Cavaliers-Golden State Warriors rivalry.

A while back when the Cavs went to Golden State to face the Warriors, ex-Cavs reporter Chris Haynes, who covered the team for Cleveland.com in 2014-15 and 2015-16, stressed on a recent episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast” how Green was very unsure about Haynes early on.

Here was what Haynes, who later on worked for ESPN and is now with Yahoo! Sports, said, as was transcribed by Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area.

"“I remember when I went to Golden State, Draymond (Green) was a little bit iffy on me initially,” Yahoo’s Chris Haynes said Wednesday on the “Bill Simmons Podcast. “He was like, ‘Oh, you’re a spy. You were sent over here by the Cavs (laughter.’“He was serious.”"

While this may come as a surprise to some, this is just another hilarious act to add to the list of laughable acts committed by Green.

When the two teams would face off, there was never a dull moment between Green and several players on the Cavs roster then, including James, as it seemed there would always be something going on that the players would be chirping about back and forth.

While Cavs fans around the world may always continue to hold a grudge against Green for always being that bothersome, chippy and under-your-skin player, the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year would always give the Cleveland Cavaliers problems every time the teams would face each other.

One day, LeBron James, Green and many other players who were a part of the multi-year rivalry will love to sit back on this and joke about it.

For now, this will hold still as another funny moment that Cavs fans are able to laugh at, one that screams this is so Draymond Green every way you look at it.
