Patrick Williams could be defensive ace pick for Cavs in 2020 NBA Draft

Williams would aid the Cleveland Cavaliers in turning into a winner
In terms of recent mock drafts, Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman had Williams going 11th overall, and NBC Sports’ Rob Dauster had Williams going 17th overall.
The aforementioned Sow mentioned Williams as a player that Cleveland could look to target later into the first round, seemingly via trade of future second round draft picks and/or cash considerations.
To me, though, with Williams’ defensive versatility/instincts and big wing potential, he’s a player Cleveland has to very much consider at their high pick anyhow, and even more so at fourth, fifth or sixth. Before that, I’d lean more toward Okoro, perhaps Dayton big Obi Toppin, Okongwu or Ball.
Even so, though, with how desperately the Cavs need switchable defenders and potential wing options with size that can help Sexton, Garland, and/or KPJ in some respects and Osman in instances with him/others, Williams could translate to winning maybe as much as any other of those names for Cleveland.
He did so for a 26-5 Seminoles team, keep in mind, and could do so earlier on than many others for the Cavs.
Plus, even while he shot only 32.0 percent from three-point range, he could prove to be a viable spot-up threat down the road, given his free throw hit rate of 83.8 percent, and he has potential as a pull-up threat that is a good cutter, too.
Albeit with his agility, quick/strong hands, instincts and switchability and likely factoring into winning earlier on than other prospects, Williams could be a key rotational player right away for Cleveland if they selected him/he is available.
In an underwhelming 2020 NBA Draft and with the Cavs’ huge defensive needs, that would make for a really nice pick, and could help them turn more into a winner by adding a potentially highly productive defensive starter, too.
