#2: Andre Miller

The second Cavs player from that mid-90’s to early 2000’s era is Andre Miller. Miller started out his longtime NBA career with Cleveland back in 1999-2000, and was here in that same span as Murray.

Right away, Miller made an immediate impact as a rookie, as the point guard had 11.1 points, 5.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest. He clearly was a sturdy 6-foot-3, 200-pound lead guard and was willing and able to make on-time feeds all over the floor, and he was tough to stop as a driver in both settled offense and transition.

Miller would routinely make the game easier for the likes of Ilgauskas, Murray, Wesley Person and others, such as Chris Mihm and Jumaine Jones. Playing off that, in his three seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miller would end up having 8.2 assists per game, and he even led the NBA in that metric with 10.9 assists per outing in the 2001-02 season.

Miller would again eventually be dealt to the Clippers as was mentioned, but his all-around style and him being a willing and active perimeter defender led to him having a long lasting career.

Miller would go on to play 17 seasons in the Association, and his most productive years post-Cavs were with the Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers. His team-first style was so fun to see in his early Cleveland days, in this case, though.
