Another strong game vs. the Knicks

Sexton must circle games against the Knicks because two of the best performances this season for him have been against New York.

Once again, Collin came out of the gates strong, scoring ten first-quarter points. After the first 24 minutes, Sexton had the Cavaliers right in the game, with 16 points (on six-of-12 shooting) and four assists, per ESPN.

A seven-point fourth quarter by Sexton, which included a pair of clutch shots in the final two minutes, helped force overtime. While Sexton was held scoreless in the overtime frame, I am not letting it take away from an overall solid performance, one which included him dishing out seven assists, too.

Overall, this was a tough list to compile, as several games could have made this list. For example, there was Sexton’s 31-point performance against the New Orleans Pelicans on February 28, where he connected on six shots from beyond the arc, according to Basketball Reference (though it was a tough game and loss for the Cavs).

There was also the 28-point performance from Sexton which helped Cleveland defeat the Philadelphia 76ers in late February. Philly was banged up and without Ben Simmons and mostly Joel Embiid, but Sexton was terrific, and a plus-18 in that game, too, per Basketball Reference.

As I noted earlier, it is unfortunate the NBA season was suspended when it was because Sexton was truly performing at another level. In his last 17 games, Sexton was averaging 24.4 points, while hitting 50.0 percent of his shots and connecting on 45.0 percent of his three-point attempts. Moreover, the Young Bull was also averaging 4.3 assists over his final 17 games.

Next. It's reasonable to be optimistic about the Cavs' shooting moving forward. dark

As of now, it is unknown if the NBA season will continue, but it would be unfortunate if we have seen the last of Sexton until next season. Regardless, when the next time Sexton takes the floor, there is a lot of hope the young guard is a core piece of the Wine and Gold for years to come.
