With the NBA season being on hiatus until further notice, it’s a good time to revisit my statistics predictions for Cleveland Cavaliers young guards Darius Garland and Collin Sexton.

The 2019-20 season for the Cleveland Cavaliers and other NBA teams is on hiatus until further notice due to precaution needing to be exercised in order to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic, and at the moment, it’s unclear as to whether or not the current season will resume.

On the bright side for us Cavs fans, while on the season at this time with the league suspended a 19-46 record shows there’s been so many struggles, it was at least nice to see the club be more respectable post-All-Star break.

Under the direction of now-head coach J.B. Bickerstaff instead of John Beilein, even while I understand teams are often galvanized for a bit by a mid-season head coaching change, Cleveland was 5-6, and playing better as a group. The season is suspended, though, and we’ll see if the year is at some point played out down the road.

In the mean time, though, it seems relevant to look back on players from an individual perspective, such as how youngsters have progressed, for example.

While it’s been a bumpy road for the young guard pairing of Darius Garland and Collin Sexton, which is obviously no shock with both being primarily guards that need the ball in their hands and both having a ways to go, especially Garland, defensively, both can develop into key pieces for Cleveland in coming years I believe.

That pair, along with Kevin Porter Jr. and Larry Nance Jr., in particular, appear to be pieces that will have the biggest impact on the Cavs’ future, I’d imagine. Moreover, here, I’m going to revisit my individual statistics predictions for Garland and for Sexton for 2019-20, with the league on hiatus until further notice, beginning with the rookie.
