Takeaway #2: Collin Sexton arguably had his most complete game

We all know Collin Sexton can really score the basketball and has shown he can be a decent on-ball defender on the perimeter.

The biggest question with Sexton or where people would like to see him improve is in the area of playmaking, at least in being able to make simple plays when defenses collapse. I think this was Sexton’s most complete game of the year and it’s also good to see how with some of the passing reads Sexton has made in these recent games, he finished with five assists in this game.

Many people understandably have been hard on Sexton, because he forces the issue too much.

His his decision-making has been improving recently and some of the reads/passes he’s made in recent games is an encouraging sign, though.

Now him having five turnovers in this one along with five assists is a teaching point for Cleveland head coach John Beilein and company.

However, the improvement of Sexton and this kind of feed is a big positive as it shows he can keep getting better feel in knowing how to counter his attacks to the rim.

Sexton once again led the Cavs in scoring and again added to his strong January pouring in 23 points, which led all scorers, and did so on an efficient 10-of-19 shooting overall, as shown by ESPN.

For good reason, New Orleans Pelicans phenom Zion Williamson will be who everyone wants to see in Tuesday’s game in Cleveland, but I’m interested to see how Sexton goes up against a tough challenge in Jrue Holliday, who I’m assuming will defend Sexton a bunch.
