#2 – Miami Heat

It’s been a fantastic season thus far for the Miami Heat. They currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 25-10 record.

They are also in a pretty good position to add some long-term salary, even if it’s a pretty steep price. Jimmy Butler, who could be the best signing of the offseason for what he has brought to this team, is really their only high-dollar, long-term deal.

The second-highest-paid player for the Heat is Goran Dragic, and he is in the last year of his contract.

The two players the Heat would be sending Cleveland in this proposed deal come in as the third and fourth-highest-paid players for Miami. James Johnson, who has fallen completely out of the rotation, has two years and $30.6 million left on his contract and Justise Winslow, who has been hurt virtually all season with an assortment of ailments, has three years and $39 million left on his deal.

Miami would be willing to move Winslow, who is a productive young player because they have been so successful without him this season.

The Cavaliers would absolutely demand Miami’s first-round pick due to not getting any salary relief essentially. They basically would save $600 thousand over the next two years until Johnson’s contract expires.

The Heat would oblige due to the fact that it will likely be at the end of the first round anyway.

Adding Winslow would be interesting for Cleveland. When healthy, he is an excellent young player. In 10 games played this season, according to Basketball-Reference, Winslow has averaged 12.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

A Winslow and Cedi Osman pairing at small forward would be a solid combination for the Cavaliers and Winslow can also play point guard at times.
