Ochai Agbaji, shooting guard, Kansas Jayhawks

A player who is just starting to garner first-round interest is Kansas Jayhawks shooting guard Ochai Agbaji.

If the Cavaliers are interested in adding Agbaji to round out their guard rotation, they will do so but trading back up to the back end of the first round as they did last summer when they selected Kevin Porter Jr. would be the 2020 NBA Draft move.

The sophomore guard from Kansas City, Missouri as essentially improved across the board this season after coming in a little under the radar, at least by Kansas’ standards as a recruit.

According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Agbaji was a mid-tier four-star recruit that had only a handful of power-five offers.

Agbaji’s top trait is his elite athleticism and it allowed him to come in as a lower-rated recruit and see the floor as a true freshman last season. Bill Self and the Jayhawks ran a ton of out of bounds and out of timeout sets against a zone for him to get lob opportunities at the rim.

His improvement with off the dribble scoring has allowed him to be more of a focal point in the Jayhawks attack this season and is starting to propel him up, draft boards.

Agbaji has a ton of defensive potential as well due to his excellent athleticism. He has a chance to be a better pro than he was in college also due to the pace of play at the NBA level.
