Cleveland Cavaliers big Kevin Love is a prime target of trade rumors once again, but the team still seemingly values him in such high regard at this point. Here’s a few areas of focus for Love in upcoming games.
The last few weeks have been tough for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the month of December is going to feature a brutal stretch of games, too.
It got to be even worse on Saturday, when after the Cavs lost a hard-fought contest to the Orlando Magic 93-87 on Friday, Cleveland got absolutely obliterated on the road as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Wine and Gold 141-94. Cleveland, as a result, is now just 5-17 in the 2019-20 season.
The Sixers had a 41-point halftime lead in that one. Plus, Philly star Ben Simmons had 34 points on 12-of-14 shooting, including even a three-pointer, to go with seven assists, two blocks and two steals in just 26 minutes, as noted by ESPN.
To make matters worse, the 76ers didn’t even have star 5 Joel Embiid, and one of their key all-around players in guard Josh Richardson due to reported injuries.
After that contest, it was pretty easy to tell that the Cavaliers, including star big Kevin Love, were pretty down in the dumps.
One could see that here, in relation to Love, who is one of the Cavs’ most important leaders (along with Tristan Thompson), postgame.
Love, who the Cavs are reportedly said to now be willing to listen to trade offers for, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, has hit a bit of rougher patch as compared to earlier in the season.
In that game against the Sixers, Love had just six points on two-of-seven shooting, to go with seven rebounds.
Love, when the Cavs have had success and/or been competitive in the 2019-20 season, has been the team’s bread and butter on the offensive end.
So what’s the first area of focus for Love in upcoming games?
I’ll get into that now.
