#2: Isaac Okoro-F, Auburn

Auburn forward Isaac Okoro may very well be the most underrated and least talked about player in this article and in the basketball world in general in relation to the 2020 NBA Draft.

He enters the year with a rock solid Auburn Tigers team that are currently undefeated at 7-0. They are also ranked 18th in the AP Poll and this is largely because of how veteran and upperclassmen-heavy the team is.

Okoro is the only freshman that is starting on an Auburn team with an impressive total of seven seniors and two red-shirt sophomores. He brings elite high-flying ability, quality length and defensive instincts, and a clear NBA-ready body at 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds.

He will likely play the 3 in the NBA and will certainly have to improve upon his overall shooting ability in order to truly maximize his scoring potential, yet his game certainly merits attention being paid to him moving forward and in this NCAA season.

Okoro has played relatively well and as such is projected largely as an early-to-mid second round selection, but has the clear potential to boost his draft stock and jump even into the early-to-late first round if his play continues to improve throughout the rest of the season.

In Auburn’s seven games and seven victories so far, Okoro is averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting 60.9% from the field and an outstanding 72% from two-point range, as displayed by Sports Reference.

He has showcased his all-around game and has flashed an ability to be a strong defensive player moving forward as well.

His strongest game thus far has been against Davidson in which he had 17 points and showcased his shooting touch a bit by hitting two of his three three-point attempts. Okoro will be tested here even further and even have the national spotlight on him and his Auburn team when they play and go through the tougher SEC teams such as Kentucky and Florida this NCAA basketball season.

There is a chance that Okoro decides to remain at Auburn for at least one more season given his former McEachern High School teammate and five-star point guard, Sharife Cooper, has recently committed to join the Auburn Tigers’ 2020 recruiting class.

This must certainly be kept in consideration when it comes to Isaac Okoro and the 2020 NBA Draft, but he still absolutely remains someone to watch this season regardless.

If he declares and becomes an option for a team like the Cavaliers, he certainly fits well in the team’s young core and adds further needed athleticism and defense to a squad that needs it, likely at the 3 in most instances.
