Cleveland Cavaliers: Where Darius Garland ranks against other starting PGs
9. Jamal Murray – Denver Nuggets
The Canadian point guard Jamal Murray is on the cusp of stardom. Although the Nuggets had a fantastic season last year, they somewhat surprisingly were bounced in the second round by the Portland Trail Blazers.
Murray and teammate Nikola Jokic form one of the best one-two punches in the entire NBA and the tandem could take them to the NBA Finals this year.
Throughout his short career, Murray has averaged 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game per Basketball-Reference.
8. Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors
After all the disappointment handed down by the Cleveland Cavaliers this decade, Kyle Lowry can finally call himself an NBA champion after the Toronto Raptors won it all in June.
Lowry was instrumental in the rise of the Raptors, not just this past season, but as a franchise in general. He was arguably the best player on the best Raptors teams until this year when Kawhi Leonard came to town.
Lowry will look to lead the Raptors back to the NBA finals, this time without Leonard, as he is off to Los Angeles.
Throughout his splendid career, Lowry has per-game averages of 14.4 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. He is also a five-time all-star, all according to Basketball-Reference.
7. Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers
While he is nowhere near a traditional point guard, Ben Simmons has and will do the majority of the ball-handling for the Philadelphia 76ers. Simmons also has his flaws, as evident by his playoff performance.
However, no one can take away how impactful and dominant he can be on any given night. If he develops an outside jumper, he will be nearly unguardable.
For his young career, the former NBA Rookie of the Year has per-game averages of 16.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.9 assists. He was also named to the all-star team this past season, all according to Basketball-Reference.
