Cavs: KJG roundtable looking at FIBA WC and potential Wall of Honor candidates
By Dan Gilinsky
#4: Who is your early candidate for Cavs’ MVP in 2019-20?
Golonka:
Nance Jr. is my early MVP for this Cavs team. After leading the team in blocks and steals last year (per NBA.com), he’ll be one of our defensive anchors.
I’d like to see him in an expanded Nikola Jokic-type role this year after he showed off his passing abilities, too. He’s poised for a good season.
Friedman:
The early MVP candidate is also Love, as he is the most proven player on the roster. The big question is that he has struggled to stay healthy.
If he can do that, he will be the best player on the Cavs.
DiPaola:
This is tough, but I would say Sexton is a guy who is poised to have a successful sophomore season. Also, Cedi Osman is a guy who looks ready to take his game to the next level and really help out the Wine and Gold.
Also, I think Nance will have a stellar season, especially if he becomes one of the featured big men.
Casey:
It’s easily Love. With the current players on the roster, Garland is the franchise player of the future, but for next year, the MVP is Love.
If healthy, he’s still an All-Star-caliber player and the veteran of the group.
Marling:
Love is the obvious choice for early Cavs’ MVP. Outside of him, Cedi Osman, Collin Sexton, and Darius Garland would be the top candidates.
