Cavs: KJG roundtable looking at FIBA WC and potential Wall of Honor candidates
By Dan Gilinsky
#2: Do any former players not named LeBron James or Kyrie Irving come to mind as potential Wall of Honor candidates?
Golonka:
John “Hot Rod” Williams is the most deserving. He was a key contributor for a team that made the playoffs in seven out of nine years, despite being plagued by the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls.

Friedman:
One Wall of Honor candidate that comes to mind is Daniel Gibson. He’s not even close to a jersey retirement-level but it is hard to deny the impact he had on the Cavs, especially during that ’07 run and his legendary Game 6 against the Detroit Pistons.
One other player who deserves some recognition would be Mo Williams.
DiPaola:
A player that would be a nice addition to the Wall of Honor in my eyes is Anderson Varejao. Once he is five years removed from being an active member of the team, I think he is a no-brainer.
He checks all the boxes that the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for, and he was beloved by his teammates and the fans. Even a guy like Daniel Gibson, who was also a fan favorite, had quite a few big moments for the Wine and Gold, as Josh noted.
Casey:
At this point, it’s hard to see anybody outside of the players with their jerseys retired (which will be on it automatically), and LeBron and Kyrie, as far as former players.
Marling:
Obviously, Anderson Varejao since I wrote an article on it. But others I would include on the Wall of Honor eventually would be Andre Miller, Terrell Brandon, and maybe Mo Williams.
It’s hard to add many others that aren’t still active players like LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Love because of the poor history of the Cavs since 2000, outside of those runs.
