#3: Darius Garland

There is quite a bit of hype surrounding the fifth overall pick in Garland, and for good reason. Garland reportedly impressed the Wine and Gold’s top brass at his pre-draft workout with his ability to hit long-range shots and looks to be a promising young player.

Just yesterday a video surfaced of Garland taking part in an open gym, and he not only looked in good shape, but also his shot looked deadly (via Swish Cultures‘ Twitter account).

The apparent concern for Garland, like any rookie, is the adjustment he must make to the NBA game. This could be even tougher considering Garland is coming off an injury and took part in just five games at Vanderbilt before suffering his reported meniscus tear.

Then there is the question of if the combination of Garland and Sexton will work? On paper, this duo looks to have quite a bit of potential, but obviously, they will need time to gel on the floor.

But just like Sexton during the second half of last season (20.8 points per game, and he shot 41.3% from beyond the arc post-All-Star break, per NBA.com), the hope would be that if Garland starts slow, he would be able to find a rhythm as the year goes on.

The hope is that every player on the Cleveland Cavaliers can begin the year firing on all cylinders, but it is only natural that some players will get off to a slow start.

The key will be for those players to correct their early season woes and put up productive numbers as the year progresses, and the Cavs can hopefully at least improve some game-to-game and try to play the right way and for the young players keep developing good habits.
