A document was leaked on Friday showcasing a bunch of NBA court layouts for the upcoming season, and fortunately, three for the Cleveland Cavaliers were shown.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are going to be playing a milestone season in 2019-20, as we’ve hit on here at KJG a number of times.
In 2019-20, Cleveland will be playing their 50th NBA season, and that’ll mean a good share of giveaways, I would imagine.

As part of that milestone year, the team recently announced that they’ll be displaying a Wall of Honor in the upcoming season in the newly-renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse that will be commemorating individuals that played pivotal roles in the history of the Cavaliers, such as those with their jerseys retired.
On Friday, too, though, there was a leaked document, courtesy of the SportsLogos.net message board and Reddit’s NBA page (and h/t WKYC’s Ben Axelrod), that showed the likely court layouts of the teams in the NBA this upcoming season, and it appears that three new layouts will be used for the Cavs in this 50th season for them.
So in relation to these new court layouts/designs for 2019-20, I figured it’d be relevant to rank them in descending order, from my perspective as a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The leaked one for the 50th season celebration is not one I’m a big fan of, personally.
#3: The “Core” court
It’s not that this court is all that bad looking, but compared to the next two, the “50” logo at the center of the floor is just a bit of an eyesore for me, and the gold perimeter isn’t the best.
It’s cool that the paint is wine, though, and it’s reminiscent of the team keeping it, to a degree, nostalgic in the sense of the early days for the Cleveland Cavaliers with players such as Bingo Smith and “Mr. Cavalier,” Austin Carr, having prominent roles.
As the aforementioned Axelrod noted, this is the court design that will likely be used “most frequently this season.”
I’m just, frankly, not the biggest fan of the gold having such a key focus with this court design.
The next court design would be set for the team’s “City Edition” uniforms for 2019-20, and I’m a bigger fan of what’s at the center of the floor in this one as opposed to the huge 50.
#2: The “City Edition” court
This court is likely to be the one used for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ “City Edition” uniforms, and as one can tell, that’ll likely be the team’s overall color scheme for those games (and as Axelrod touched on).
The border and paint in navy would just create a better overall feel to the court to me, but again, the Cavs aren’t wearing that the majority of the time, anyhow, but also with the smaller 50’s inside each three-point line on each end of the floor, that bends in more and is not so in-your-face, if you will.
The retro “Cle” in the middle of the floor is an awesome logo, to me, too.
The best leaked Cavs’ court is the next one, however.
#1: The “Classic” one is the best Cavs’ leaked court
This “Classic” leaked court for the Cavaliers would be the best one of the three if it’s really going to be used on occasion, to me.
That 90’s color scheme and the “hoop logo,” as Cavs Nation’s Kenny Honaker hit on, is vintage, and was also reminiscent of the days where Mark Price and Brad Daugherty (as Honaker highlighted), Larry Nance and Terrell Brandon and others were making postseason runs for the Cavaliers.
The black and blue color combo in the 90’s, the “Gund Arena” days, as Axelrod mentioned, and really with the hoop logo, was the best type of Cavaliers’ logo, to me, and it’d be fun to see young guys on the current team, such as Collin Sexton, Cedi Osman, Darius Garland, Dylan Windler and Kevin Porter Jr., sporting uni’s matching this court logo.
Kevin Love in that one would be fun to see, too, and it’d be quite a sight, really, to see Sexton or Garland flying down the floor scoring in transition, or hitting trailers such as Porter, Love and/or Windler, on this floor in the 2019-20 season.
That would be quite Price/Brandon-like when it comes to the “Young Bull,” or Garland, who could both be in big seasons.
So which leaked court is the coolest of these three to you, Cavs fans?
