2019-20 stats predictions for Windler: 7.8 PPG on 53.6% true shooting, 3.8 RPG, 1.9 APG, 20.2 MPG and 76 games active

Windler is a player that I would think will fit right into the rotation for Beilein, and after a bit into the year, should fit right in as the team’s eighth man or so.

Though he’ll probably cut into Osman’s minutes some playing the 3, I’d think Cleveland will probably line Osman up at the 4 a fair amount, given that the Cavs have so many guards that will warrant minutes and the bigs outside of Love that will be regular contributors are not really floor-spacers.

Taking that into account here, I see Windler as a player that will get plenty of chances going his way when he’s on the floor, and with three-point marksmanship shown at Belmont (though it was only in the Ohio Valley Conference), with a clip of 40.6% (per Sports Reference) over four seasons there, he’ll fit in curling around screens from bigs such as Nance, initially John Henson (if he is healthier), and as the year progresses, I would think Ante Zizic.

Defensively, Windler will probably have his struggles on-ball, but he’ll be far from the only one on the Cleveland Cavaliers with issues there, and has at least shown he’s pretty alert as a rotator, and his 6-foot-10 length (per Tankathon) should help him contesting shooters if he can be in the right position, which I think he will be more often than not.

Along with his shooting prowess, the rookie (22) is a polished cutter and is a good ball-mover that won’t have big assist totals, but he’ll do his part in initating ball-swings after hard closeouts, and based on the way he rebounded in college, I would think he’ll do his part on the defensive glass, too.

As 2019-20 progresses, I’d think him, Nance and Porter’s chemistry will continue to grow, and he could open up some driving lanes for Sexton and Osman as well.
