#1: Cam Reddish – Duke

I have Duke’s Cam Reddish and Garland as my two best prospects for the Cavs. In his one year at Duke, Reddish averaged 13.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 0.6 blocks, while shooting 33.3% from deep and yes, the overall 45.9% effective field goal shooting (per Sports Reference) was rough.

That being said, Reddish is someone who is raw and will take time to develop, but the Cavs can afford to take their time with him. If the Cavs and general manager Koby Altman draft Reddish, they would be betting on Beilein and his staff being able to get the most out of Reddish and him reaching his enormous potential.

Cam Reddish is a wing who has drawn comparions to Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George, again according to Schmitz.

It’s not very hard to see the comparison when you look at Cam’s physical tools and overall talent.

Guys who are 6-foot-8 and have a 7-foot-and-a-half wingspan (per Tankathon) with his athleticism, while being someone who can create his own shot and with a pure shooting stroke don’t grow on trees.

If the Cavs do target Reddish they could also trade back with the Atlanta Hawks and still get their guy.

The Hawks have reportedly been aggressive in their attempt to move up, as our own Dan Gilinsky recently hit on and our own Josh Friedman also touched on a potential Cavs move back as well.

I think Reddish would make the biggest impact on the defensive side of the ball as a rookie. Other parts of his game need work, but helping a defense that again needs a ton of help would be his biggest impact as a rookie, because he can come in and become the Cavs’ best perimeter defender right away.

I believe that Reddish and Garland are the best prospects for the Cavs, because I believe Cleveland should swing for the fences for a franchise building block.

Both of those prospects have the potential to become that if they reach their ceilings.

Reddish probably has more upside considering talent-wise, as he has the potential to become a two-way star, but Garland with his handle, playmaking, and shooting gives you a heck of a point guard to build around.

Next. 3 players Cavs could maybe target if they purchase a 2nd-round pick. dark

With this draft being top-heavy and with things getting interesting after three, things can always change, so it’s definitely a toss up between these two and some of the other prospects available, though.
